Faith please God

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. – Hebrews 11:6 NIV

Yea, anyone that comes to God must believe that he exists and rewards those who earnestly seek him. The Christion life starts with believing in Jesus, it’s through faith that we were saved, and all what Jesus did for us are received by us through faith.

When we are born-again, we are given a measure of faith, it’s a gift from God, so nobody is lacking faith, but with doubts and unbelief the faith gets negated.

… when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. – James 1:6-7 NLT

It all comes to the point on whether you believe what God say or what the world says. With all the logic and reasoning what the world say may sound convincing. To overlook that and to stick on to God’s word is where you need faith, without it you won’t be able to please him.

Ask, Seek, Knock

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. – Matthew 7: 7-8

This is part of the teaching by Jesus on prayer, often we think that this is for the elite few and for clarification, he states that everyone who asks receives, that includes you and me.

Later in James 4:2 the bible says … You do not have, because you do not ask. During the ministry of Jesus, you can see him asking people what they want, so it’s important for us to be specific on our needs.

Bible also states that … When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. – James 4:3 NIV

Another important factor in getting answers for your prayers is … Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. – Mark 11:24

After asking you need to believe that you received what you asked, only then it will be yours. Amen

Don’t desire the things of this world

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. – 1 John 2:15-16

The world or the so-called world system is in enmity with God, that’s why we should not desire the things of this world. We are the children of God and citizens of His kingdom, we can’t love both; the world and God.

The devil used the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life to tempt mankind from the beginning, even now the devil uses the same to tempt us, the packing might be different, but the contents remain the same.

To overcome the desires of this world we need to follow what Apostle Paul said in Romans 12:2 … Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

We need to transform our mind according the word of God.

Undeserved Gift

For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time–to show us his grace through Christ Jesus.  – 2 Timothy 1:9

There are lot of believers and even pastors that discredits grace, treating is as a licence to sin, they don’t understand what grace is.

We are saved through grace, we live a holy life because of grace, our ability to overcome sin comes from grace.  Just as Apostle Paul states God did this not because we deserved it, but it was his plan to redeem us through Jesus Christ.

The bible states that, even before the foundations of this earth was laid, He saw us and called us to be His children.

We need His grace and mercy, on a daily basis, those who rejects grace are trying to be self-righteous, that’s very dangerous. Jesus is the only way to righteousness.

Eternal life

Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. – John 17:3

Eternal life is not living in heaven forever, but it’s a now and here thing.  Knowing about God and knowing God are different.

Knowing God is having an intimate relationship with Him, in such a way that He knows us too. …  “But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him.” – 1 Corinthians 8:3

Jesus came to this world to reveal God the Father and His unconditional love towards us. … We love because he first loved us. – 1 John 4:19

Our love for Him is merely a response to His initiative.

Not I, but Christ

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. – Galatians 2:20

Once we are born again, we become a new creation, by faith we need to crucify our old self with all its lusts and desires along with Jesus on the cross.

If we continue to sin after being in Christ, its lazy and deplorable. At some point. we need to take victory over all the sins we commit consciously of our old self, then we will come to know the sins we commit unconsciously, we need to take victory of that too.

Only then we can live a life without sin and be more like Christ. By faith we keep sin in death, where it belongs, and alive in Jesus Christ, so that it’s not us that lives but Christ lives in us.

Fullness of God in Jesus

For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.  – Colossians 1:19-20

Jesus had all the fullness of God, it means if you know Jesus, you know God. The old testament gives an incomplete picture of God the father.

Through the shedding of blood by Jesus on the cross; Father also reconciles all of us to Him; who were separated from Him by sins.

God is at peace with mankind, He is no longer angry with us. He sees us as righteous through Jesus.

If you need to know what God thinks about something; just see what Jesus did when he was in this world.

The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. – Hebrew 1: 3 NLT.

Be like children

But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. – Luke 18:16

Here Jesus is letting us know that the children inherit the kingdom of God. First and foremost, characteristic of a child their innocence, their mind is not crooked. They believe blindly whomsoever they trust, they won’t try to reason themselves.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God – Matthew 5:8

Let us be like children, being pure in our hearts, letting God have full control of our life, following his commands without reasoning and we will inherit the kingdom of God.

Things that are not seen

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. – 2 Corinthians 4:18

Just like a baby’s life in the mother’s womb is temporary, our life in this world is also temporary. We are bond to eternity.

What we see, hear, touch etc may look real but the true reality is what is in the spiritual realm which we can’t see with our natural eyes.

Even when we are in this world, we need to set our eyes on the things above and store our treasures there, where the thief cannot steal.

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. – Matthew 6:21

Make disciples

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, – Matthew 28:19.

This command, popularly known as the great commission, is very important for the believers, especially for those who are called to the ministry.

Jesus tells us to make disciples, not converts.

The word disciple is defined as a person who believes in the ideas and principles of someone and tries to live the way that person does or did.

That means, even before we disciple someone, we need to become a disciple, only then we can pass the discipleship to others.

So; don’t limit yourself just as a believer, be a disciple!
